Despite what it’s name may imply, Sensitive Brier, Mimosa quadrivalvis, also known as Cat’s Claw or Devil’s Shoelace, is a plant that kids love to play with. Kids love to touch the leaves because when the leaves are touched they close up. This native plant can also be the bane of many children, as the briers can scratch up their legs. This is one of Elizabeth Steele’s favorite native plants to show kids who come to visit a Diverse Native Grassland.
