Will Applied Fertilizer Benefit Our Native Warm Season Grasses?

At the beginning of June this year (2025), Colt Hamilton had commercial fertilizer applied to 3 of our fields of monocrop Native Warm Season Grasses. This was to conduct an experiment to see if any of the 3 species of Native Warm Season Grasses would respond to the applied fertilizer. Join Colt & Elizabeth Steele as they walk the field on June 26th to see if there was any visible benefit from the commercial fertilizer on our fields.

This field is comprised of a stand of Big Bluestem (Andopogon gerardii), Switchgrass (Panicum virgatum) and Eastern Gamagrass (Tripsacum dactyloides).
