Sporobolus compositus, also knows as Tall Dropseed, Composite Dropseed, or Rough Dropseed, is a native perennial warm season prairie grass that grows 2-4 ft tall.

Forage notes

Tall dropseed has fair forage value. Palatability decreases with maturity. It tends to increase in overgrazed bluestem pastures but it decreases in overgrazed short grass prairie.

Restoration notes

Habitats include dry soils of prairies and plains. Rough Dropseed ranges throughout both short and tall grass prairie regions in North America, mostly with sandy substrates.
