Description
Coleataenia anceps (Panicum anceps), commonly known as Beaked Panic Grass or Beaked Panicum, is a native perennial warm season grass that reaches 2-4 feet tall.
Wildlife notes
Deer will graze beaked panicgrass. The seed are eaten by upland birds and some waterfowl.
Forage notes
Great quality forage for cattle and horses.
Landscaping notes
This plant prefers moist to wet soils. Beaked panicgrass grows best under 30 to 35 percent shade. The plants form large clumps as they spread from short rhizomes.
Restoration notes
This plant is found growing in bottomland freshwater marshes and swamps on sandy soils. Good for erosion control in shaded areas.
