Healing a Small Stream Using Native Plants

This stream used to be surrounded by trees which resulted in bare ground and bare stream banks. In an effort to heal and stabilize this stream, we replaced the large trees with a diversity of native plants and shrubs. Because this stream is the water source for livestock grazing the adjacent Diverse Native Grassland, we chose to plant mostly palatable species along with some less palatable species to hold the soil and support pollinators.
